The Basics

4 questions
What is StoryFunTime?

StoryFunTime turns your own voice into personalized video storybooks. You pick a story, the people you love become the illustrated characters, and you record yourself reading it. The result is a finished book your grandchild can watch again and again — in your voice.

What do I actually get when a book is finished?

Three things, every time:

  • A video of the book, narrated in your own voice — share it with anyone straight from the site, or download it to your computer to keep forever.
  • An online click-through book — share it with anyone from the site, or download your own copy to your computer to keep permanently.
  • A PDF — download it from the site to your computer, ready for you to print and make your own book any time.
Do I need to be good with technology?

No. When you open StoryFunTime you'll see three buttons — My Stories, Create Story, Create Character. That's the whole app. If you can tap a button and talk, you can make a book.

Is this for grandparents only?

No. Parents, aunts and uncles, godparents, friends, family, kids — anyone who wants to tell a story.

It just happens to have started with a grandfather (Popz) and his granddaughter (Oaklii).

How to Create a Book

3 questions
How do I start a new book?

Every time you log in, you land on a screen with three buttons — My Stories, Create Story, and Create Character.

  • Tap Create Story, then Choose Characters — pick from everyone you've already made, or create someone new right there on the spot.
  • Whoever you choose carries forward with you through the rest of the process, so you always know who's in the story.
  • Once you've picked your characters, tap Start New Story — the button turns green when you're ready to go.

What are my options for writing the story?

You'll choose one of four ways to build it:

  • Generate AI Story — type or voice your idea, and AI writes the full story across every page.
  • Create Custom Story — build it page by page: pick a title and story type, then for each page write what you want to say in the first box, and describe the scenery and what the characters are doing in the second box — AI turns that into the finished, illustrated page. Tap + Add Page any time to keep going — there's no cap on how long your story can be. When you're ready, tap Click to Generate ALL Images and watch StoryFunTime illustrate your book — each page's artwork appears one at a time, built from the scenery and character details you gave it. Generating takes anywhere from thirty seconds to a few minutes, depending on how many pages you're generating images for. Once a page's image is ready, tap the thumbnail or the binoculars icon to preview it full-size, and tap Regenerate any time you'd rather try a different version.
  • Write Your Story — type or paste your whole story in one box (up to 5,000 characters), then choose Use My Exact Text to keep every word as you wrote it, or Use AI Magic to let it polish your words — either way, StoryFunTime turns it into a finished, illustrated book.
  • Storytime Library — pick from over 100 ready-made stories.
What story types can I choose from?

When you build your own story, you'll pick a story type: Bedtime Story, Adventure, Silly & Funny, Fairy Tale, Superhero, Mystery, Space Adventure, Animal Friends, Learning Story — or Your Own Theme, if none of those fit what you're after.

It's more than a label — it shapes the whole book. StoryFunTime builds the artwork and the story itself around that type, so a Space Adventure gets space-themed backgrounds and a story that behaves like a space adventure, and so on for each type you pick.

Recording Your Voice

6 questions
How does the recording work?
  • You record page by page — each page has its own recording screen, showing you the text for that page.
  • Want to change the wording first? Tap Edit to tweak the text right there, then tap the microphone to record.
  • Tap Click to Record ALL Pages and it walks you through the whole book, page by page, prompting you to record each one in turn — or record a single page at a time, whichever you prefer.
  • Once you've recorded a page, you can Play Back to listen, tap the mic again to re-record it, or tap Save Recording when you're happy — saving automatically moves you on to the next page.
  • Don't like how a page came out later? Re-record just that page — you never have to start the whole book over.
  • Once you've recorded the last page, you'll see an "All Done Recording!" screen — tap Generate Video and StoryFunTime puts the whole book together.
What if I don't like the sound of my own voice?

Almost nobody does. Your grandchild will. That's the whole point of this. (Have you heard Popz's voice in the sample books? If he can do it, anyone can.)

Can I use my own words instead of reading the story on the screen?

Yes — the words on the page are there to help, not to box you in.

  • Edit the story that's already there.
  • Write your own story from scratch.
  • Ad-lib as you go while you record — say it your way in the moment.

Just remember: whatever text is on the screen when you record is the text that ends up in the book, and on the PDF.

Do I need special equipment?

No. Your phone or computer microphone is fine. A quiet room helps more than any equipment does.

How long does a book take to make?

That's up to you — most books take somewhere between five and fifteen minutes, depending on the size.

  • A short three-to-five-page book can be finished in just a few minutes.
  • Want to go bigger — a fifty-page book, say? That'll simply take longer to read out loud.
  • Either way, the process itself stays just as simple.
  • After that, generating the final video usually takes one to two minutes — sometimes three to five for a longer story.
Can I add background music to my book?

Yes. Once you've finished recording, you'll be asked to add music — pick from a set of original tracks (like Gentle Hymn, Soft Lullaby, Brave Quest, or Sparkle Waltz) to match the feel of your story, or choose No Music if you'd rather it be just your voice.

Characters

5 questions
How do I put my grandchild in the book?

Tap Create Character and upload a photo. StoryFunTime turns them into an illustrated character who then stars in any book you make.

  • Best results: use a full-size, head-to-toe photo taken in good lighting — it helps capture the right look and size for the character.
How do I put myself in the book?

Just the same way — tap Create Character and upload a photo of yourself. You can star in the book right alongside them, narrating in your own voice and appearing as a character too.

  • Best results: use a full-size, head-to-toe photo taken in good lighting — it helps capture the right look and size for the character.
Can I add other people?

Yes. Add the grandkids, add yourself, add the whole family. Characters you create are saved, so you build them once and use them in every book after that.

  • Best results: use a full-size, head-to-toe photo taken in good lighting — it helps capture the right look and size for each character.
Do I need a professional photo?

No professional photo needed. It's best if you upload a full-length, well-lit picture of the person, so we can get their body size right for the character — but a facial picture will work too.

Can I delete a character?

You can delete a character you haven't used yet. But once a character has appeared in one of your storybooks, it can't be deleted — that keeps the book it's in intact and watchable forever, exactly as you made it.

What is "The Story of My Life"?

It's a book about you. You answer simple questions — where you were born, what school was like, the work you did, the people you loved, the things you learned — and it becomes a first-person story your family can watch for generations. You can keep your answers word for word, or let StoryFunTime weave them into a flowing narrative.

This is the story about you, told by you in your own voice, that will live forever.

Pricing

6 questions
What does it cost?
PackagePriceBooksPages
Itsy Bitsy Spider$29.9910150
Twinkle Twinkle Little Star$49.9925375
Jack and Jill$79.9950750
Humpty Dumpty$129.99901,350

Every package includes complete personalized books: characters, illustrations, your recorded voice, video, online book, and PDF.

The "books" count above is just based on simple 15-page books — that's a helpful starting point, not a rule. All the books in the FunTime Library were made at fifteen pages, in case you ever want a printed copy down the road — printed books need to come in a consistent size. Really, your package comes with a set number of total pages to use however you like: more short books, fewer long ones, or anything in between.

Why are the packages named after nursery rhymes?

The name doesn't mean that particular rhyme is in the package — it's just what we call the size.

StoryFunTime is meant to be fun. It's meant to capture the stories of your life — whether that's Bible stories, nursery rhymes, or your own family's traditions. We just want you to have fun. Thus, the name: StoryFunTime.

Is there a free trial?

Yes. You can create your first very short story, record it in your own voice, and watch the finished video before you pay anything. No credit card needed.

What are FunBucks?

FunBucks are how your package usage is tracked inside the app.

  • Every package includes one FunBuck per page — matching the total pages in your package (see the pricing table above).
  • On top of that, you get bonus FunBucks to create characters and regenerate images as needed — regenerating an image costs one Buck, which is exactly what those bonus Bucks are there for.
  • Once you create a character, you use them in any book for free, forever — no extra Bucks needed.
  • You can always purchase extra FunBucks as you go.

Your package comes with everything you need — you'll only ever think about Bucks if you decide to build something longer than usual.

FunBucks are an easy way to track your progress while keeping it fun and simple.

What happens when I use up my bucks?

You'll be able to purchase more FunBucks from inside your existing package.

Sharing & Keeping Your Books

3 questions
What can I do with a finished book?

Open any book from My Stories and you'll have everything in one place:

  • Share — send it straight to family.
  • Watch Video — the narrated video version.
  • Read Story — the online, click-through book.
  • Generate PDF — create a printable PDF of the book; once it's generated, you can download it from Downloads.
  • Edit Story — go back in and make changes any time.

There's a bonus, too: every time someone clicks your shared link and purchases a package, you get a free book.

Do my books expire?

Once a book is made, it's yours to keep forever on your own device.

On StoryFunTime itself, we store your books for 24 months from your last purchase — and every time you buy another package, that 24 months starts fresh.

Of course, you'll still want to download your videos, books, and PDFs to your own device for truly permanent keeping.

Can I order a printed copy of my book?

Very soon — printed hardcover and softcover books will be available. This is when editing your books carefully becomes very important — a printed copy is permanent, so it pays to get it just right first.

Privacy & Safety

3 questions
What happens to the photos I upload?

They're used to create your characters and nothing else. We don't sell them and we don't share them.

What happens to my voice recording?

Your recording is used to narrate your books. It stays yours.

We don't use it for anything else — it's never used to generate synthetic audio, clone your voice, or create anything beyond what you actually recorded.

Is this safe for children?

Yes. There's nothing for a child to sign up for, no chat, no ads, and no way for a stranger to reach them. You make the book; the child watches it.

Whoever makes the book creates the story and shares it only with the people they choose to share it with — you're always in control of who sees it.

Account & Technical

3 questions
What devices does it work on?

StoryFunTime works on iPhones, Android phones, computers, and tablets — right in your browser, or through the mobile app.

Do I need an account?

Yes — just an email and a password. Your account is where you create your books, and where they're saved.

Download and share them everywhere you like — but mainly, download them to your own device so you can keep them forever. That's the whole point: keeping your voice forever.

Something isn't working. Who do I ask?

Click Support in the dropdown menu at the top right of your app screen, and we'll help you from there.

One Last Question

Why did I create this?

"I created StoryFunTime to make sure my grandchild grew up on the Bible stories and nursery rhymes of my own childhood. Everything else just became a bonus.

Because I never recorded my own grandparents. I don't have their voices, their stories, or the way they said my name. I built StoryFunTime so my granddaughter Oaklii never has to say the same thing — and so your grandkids don't either."

"I want my voice to be remembered."

— Popz, founder of StoryFunTime
