How It Works

From an idea to a finished
video storybook, step by step.

Here's exactly what happens, start to finish — from creating a character to watching the finished video. Every screen below is the real app.

Open the App

Every time you log in, you land on a screen with three buttons. That's the whole app.

  • My Stories — retrieve all the stories you've created.
  • Create Story — the path you go to begin creating a story.
  • Create Character — where you go to create characters.

Step 2

Create a Character

Start by creating a character. Tap My Pictures or Take Photo to add a picture, give them a name, choose Human or Pet, pick Female or Male and an age, and optionally describe any features you'd like to highlight. Tap Generate Character.

Preview Your Character

StoryFunTime shows you what they'll look like. Tap Accept if you love it, Regenerate for a new version, or Cancel to start over.

Step 4

Choose Your Characters

Now that you have characters, you're ready to create a story. Tap Create Story to begin.

Pick from all available characters, or tap Create New Character to make someone new right there on the spot.

The characters you choose carry forward with you through the rest of the story making process.

Once you've picked your characters, the Start New Story button turns green — tap Start New Story when you're ready to proceed.

Pick Your Path

Choose one of four ways to build your book: Generate AI Story, Create Custom Story, Write Your Story, or the Storytime Library. Here's what each one looks like.

Whichever one you pick, the rest of the process is the same.

Generate AI Story

Give it a title, choose a story type, set sentences per page and how many pages you want, then describe your idea and tap Generate. AI writes the whole story from there.

Path B

Create Custom Story

Give it a title and a story type, then build it page by page: the first box is what you want to say, the second box is the scenery and what the characters are doing.

Tap + Add Page any time to keep going — the story type you picked shapes all the artwork throughout.

Write Your Story

Give it a title and a story type, then choose Use My Exact Text to keep every word as you wrote it, or Use AI Magic to let it polish your words.

Type or paste your whole story in one box (up to 5,000 characters), and tap Generate.

Storytime Library

Browse over 100 ready-to-record books across eight categories — Adventure, Animal, Bedtime, Bible, Dream Big, Educational, Magical, and Race — as either Full Stories or Short Stories.

Pick a category, then pick a title, and you'll quickly move through the rest of this process!

Edit Your Text

However you built your pages, you land here next. Review each page — tap Edit to rewrite it yourself, Regenerate to have AI take another pass, or leave it as is.

Tap Click When Done when you're happy, and move on to generating the artwork.

Generate the Artwork

Tap Click to Generate ALL Images and watch StoryFunTime illustrate your book — each page's artwork appears one at a time, built from the details you gave it.

Generating takes anywhere from thirty seconds to a few minutes, depending on how many pages you're generating images for.

Love It, or Try Again

Tap a page's thumbnail (or the binoculars icon) to preview the full illustration. If it's not quite what you pictured, tap Regenerate for a new version.

Regenerating costs one FunBuck — which is exactly what your bonus Bucks are there for.

Record It in Your Own Voice

Tap Click to Record ALL Pages to move through the whole book in one go, page by page. Each page gets its own recording screen, showing you the text for that page. Want to change the wording first? Tap Edit.

When you're ready, tap the microphone. It's a good idea to be in a quiet space while recording.

Listen, Then Save

Tap Play Back to hear how it sounded, tap the microphone again to re-record it, or tap Save Recording when you're happy.

The Save Recording button moves you straight on to the next page. It's simple — just one page at a time.

Add a Little Music

Pick a track to match the mood — Gentle Hymn, Brave Quest, Sparkle Waltz, Soaring Dreams, and more — or choose No Music if you'd rather it be just your voice.

Once you choose the background music, the app shows you a preview and you're ready to generate the video.

Tap Generate Video and let the magic begin.

"Making Your Video..." This part is hands-off — usually one to two minutes, sometimes three to five for a longer story.

Tap Watch Video and see your story come to life — in your voice, with the people you love as the characters.

The Movie Launches

Your book plays back page by page, narrated in your own voice, with the artwork you built and the music you chose. Pause any time, or let it play straight through.

In the future, click the My Stories button on the main screen to retrieve all your StoryFunTime books.

Open any book and you'll have it all:

  • Share — Share Video or Share Book.

  • Read Story
  • Generate PDF — once it's generated, you can view it or download it.
  • Edit Story — you can always go back and edit and regenerate the book.
  • Downloads — Download Video, Download PDF, or copy a link to the Book, Video, or PDF.
